Eygló Receives Grant from Sterkur Stöðvarfjörður

On 13 March, Eygló was awarded a grant from the Sterkur Stöðvarfjörður – Frumkvæðissjóður, a fund established under the Sterkur Stöðvarfjörður regional development initiative. This initiative aims to foster diverse economic growth and strengthen the social fabric of Stöðvarfjörður by supporting innovative startups, cultural projects, and sustainable community efforts.

Our project, “Empowering Stöðvarfjörður with Sustainable Energy Solutions: A Heat Pump Initiative”, is led by Dominika Janus. It focuses on exploring sustainable heating alternatives for local households—particularly the use of heat pumps.

As part of the project, Eygló will host an informational meeting bringing together experts, policymakers, and local residents to share practical knowledge on heat pump systems and related funding opportunities. The goal is to identify solutions that best suit the region’s unique climate and housing stock.

We see this as an important first step in a wider effort to introduce energy-efficient home heating solutions across East Iceland. By reducing long-term heating costs and environmental impact, we hope to support the region’s move toward a more sustainable, resilient future.
