Energy transition - Energy efficiency - Circular economy

Bright and powerful future

Eygló is a collaboration project to promote energy transition, energy efficiency and circular economy in the East region of Iceland.

The name Eygló derives from our greatest source of energy, the sun, and for a brighter and powerful future.

Nánar

Eygló promotes innovation that accelerates energy transition, improves energy efficiency and strengthens the circular economy.

The goal of Eygló is to promote and accelerate the development of innovative circular and green energy transition projects. Fostering collaborations to support climate- and energy-related initiatives while bridging the gap between individuals, companies, and institutions in East Iceland. Eygló focuses on bringing in foreign and domestic financing to East Iceland for research and development of energy and climate-friendly solutions which will strengthen the circular economy and improve energy efficiency in the region.

Behind the project Eygló are three founding partners; Landsvirkjun (The National Power Company), the Ministry of the Environment, Energy and Climate, and Austurbrú (The developmental agency of East Iceland).

  • Energy transition

Eygló plans to advocate for less use of fossil fuels in the East region of Iceland. Especially in the fishing industry, transport and other heavy industry.

  • Energy efficiency

Eygló will reduce energy consumption in East Iceland by promoting the development of district heating systems, eg with heat pumps, and increased use of heat.

  • Circular Economy

Through integrating the circular economy into all of its projects, Eygló aims to decrease the amount of waste in East Iceland by encouraging the reuse of waste streams.
